Climate change refers to long-term changes in the Earth’s climate system, including shifts in temperature, precipitation patterns, wind systems, and the frequency of extreme weather events. These changes occur over decades or longer and can result from natural processes as well as human activities.
In recent decades, climate change has been driven primarily by human activities such as burning fossil fuels (coal, oil, and gas), deforestation, and industrial processes. These activities increase the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, which trap heat and lead to a gradual rise in global temperatures.
Climate change can lead to significant environmental and socio-economic impacts, including rising sea levels, more frequent droughts and floods, ecosystem degradation, and challenges to food security, water resources, and public health.
